Food for Thought 🧐

The ve-Token Model

DeFi tokenomics models are falling into problems of incentives, governance and long term benefits for token holders. Designing the right tokenomics for a project is crucial, while also being one of the most difficult things to do.

One tokenomics model that does stand out is the Vote-escrowed tokenomics (or veTokenomics), which was invented by Curve. A model where tokens are locked for a certain amount of time that incentivizes long-term participation and reduces the available supply in the market. In return users get veTokens, which are non-transferable and do not have any external markets whereby users can sell them.

Project like Yearn Finance and Synthetix are working on adopting the ve-Tokenomics and expected to launch updates this year.
